Have you ever Wanted to Start a Blog?

Do you feel the pull to talk about your interests, review media, or just share what you know?

Blogs seemed like a dead medium to me for the past couple of years, but after looking a bit harder, I found out that they do in fact still see people reading them. With that update in mind, I decided to give in to my interest and start one myself.

A White desk with a laptop and side monitor or tablet. Has an external keyboard and mouse.

My name is Morgan, owner of and author for SleepyNova, and this is the first post on the site! I’m a developer, gym junkie, and game player. Currently I work for a state university on their Drupal distribution, so I do what is essentially full-stack development as well as some helpdesk work. I mainly want to document my progress as a developer, as I’ve only had my job for a few months. I’ve heard in the past that its best to learn from people 2-4 years ahead of you rather than experts, so for beginner developers, I could be that, having only 2 years’ experience so far. I don’t want to neglect to provide resources that could be helpful to those who could use them, especially because it took me forever for programming logic to click – I started trying to learn it at age 12, but it never made sense until age 20, so I mean forever when I say it. That being said, I have made large strides in the past couple years, which goes to show the right teachers/resources can really make you progress proportionally to your desire to learn. My own development struggles aside, I also see blogging as a good way to help myself learn, as one of the best ways of committing things to memory is via explaining it concisely to others. It’s a win-win scenario, really.

This isn’t the first time I’ve tried to do something like this either, I’ve tried YouTube, streaming, and other creative outlets before, but I feel like a blog is much more manageable for me right now, especially being a web developer. Depending on how this goes, I may try to get into those again as well, but one thing at a time, because focus is valuable, and I don’t want to divide it too much.

If you’re interested in Web Development (Full-Stack, but probably more front end), some random dudes opinions on media (probably mainly video games, some movies and tv shows as well), or whatever else I’ll be interested in, then welcome aboard!
